Beginner's Guide to Digital Nomads Turkey

March 10, 2017

We don't live in the same world that our parents lived. It's not even the same with half a generation back. Technology changed us, completely and forever. And it is thanks to this technology that some of us don't have to lock themselves in office buildings everyday, to make a living. Instead, we travel...to the nearest coffee shop, to the close by neighbourhood, to this city with beautiful beaches, or to the country that is thousands of kilometres away from home.

Dig·i·tal No·mad [n.]

\di-jə-təl ˈnō-ˌmad\

One who derives income remotely and online, rather than from commuting to an office. This enables the digital nomad to not need a permanent home base, and she/he can travel anywhere at any time. Often find them Couchsurfing, living in hostels, with friends, or in third world countries where rent is cheap. Digital nomads are boss because they are their own boss and can get lost and still be ok. (Urban Dictionary)

Although the first digital nomad is considered to be Steve Roberts from 1983 and the first book on the topic dates back to 1997, it wasn't until about 2006-2007 that the remote working travelers started to grow as a community. The concept became more and more visible in the last 10 years. However, if we take Turkey into consideration, it is still unknown to many.

That is probably the reason that there aren't many resources to bring everything related to this new lifestyle together and that is what we want to achieve with this blog.

Digital Nomads Turkey is going to be a living and interactive environment. We will be talking about the latest travel trends, travel gadgets, useful resources; as well as places to see, festivals to catch and the daily life in Turkey.

Your contribution will be very valuable, both to form a community and to grow by sharing. So please do not hesitate to send in any thoughts that can contribute to this idea.

We would also like to help individual bloggers to grow their audiences, by promoting their sites. If you are a blogger from Turkey or if you are blogging about Turkey, please contact us. We will then check your website and send you a short questionnaire that will help our readers to know you. The language of your blog doesn't matter, but the answer to the questions will be published in English.

So, here is who we are and what we want to do. If it sounds good and you would like to hear from us, then join our mailing list or follow us from our social media accounts.

And why not spread the word, if you found what you read valuable?

See you next time.
